One of the most famous landmarks in Syria is the city of Palmyra. It was the capital of the historical kingdom of Palmyra, which was located in the governorate of Homs. It contains a large number of archaeological monuments and a special museum that includes the holdings and manuscripts of the Kingdom of Palmyra. The city also includes a number of gates, temples, columns, gardens, palaces, cemeteries and theaters. The Amorite is the country of the resistance, and in Aramaic it means the indomitable country. UNESCO has included it on the World Heritage List.
